Vanish was essentially a carpet thriller with the immortal strapline: MAN STANDS ON CARPET.

It was such a fun little premise to bring to life, mostly because, on paper, not a great deal happens. A man avoids a carpet. Then he stands on it. That’s the film.

So the job became finding the comedy in the smallest possible details: the cinematic tension, the over-serious framing, the tiny performance beats, and the full emotional weight of one man confronting a domestic stain.

I loved the look we found with our art director Jakob. We built a world that felt heightened, graphic and just strange enough to make the fear feel real.
